What is your favourite genre of horror?
My favorite genre has to be the found footage genre!
What movies would you recommend in that genre?
I would recommend my absolute fav, Hell House LLC, The Monster Project, and Grave Encounters.
What are your favourite horror movies?|
My favorite horror movies are the ones I mentioned above, as well as anything featuring a "monster," a vampire, werewolf, sasquatch...etc.
What was the last horror movie that actually scared you?
The last horror movie that actually scared me has to be Hell House, LLC. Something about the way it was shot, the story, and the demons that came through the basement terrified me.
What is your favourite moment from a horror movie?
A great moment (I don't necessarily have a favorite), is in the Terrifier (2016) with Art the Clown. He sawed a woman in half straight down the middle. At first, I was horrified and couldn't understand how a skinny clown could do anything like that, then upon watching other movies he was in, I realized he's like some entity, not unlike Freddy Krueger.
Why is horror special for you?
Horror is fun for me. It's a safe way to get scared and, for my writer-brain to see how other writers create compelling (or not so compelling) moments in their stories. I have a fascination with darkness, our brains, and abnormal psychology so seeing these killers or monsters do their thing is a cool way to hypothesize why they're doing what they are if the movie doesn't readily make that available.
What character in a horror do you relate to most and why?
I relate to no character in horror off the top of my head. They're all creations of their story. I experience their story and I leave them there, for the most part.
How do your friends and family feel about your horror obsession?
They know I love horror movies. I grew up watching them with my family, so we're all pretty interested in them.
When did you fall head over heels in love with the horror genre?
My mother watched horror movies when I was in the womb so it's pretty much in my blood to love them. I've always watched them.
Do you have any Halloween traditions?
I don't have any Halloween traditions at this time. Perhaps I'll create some.
If you could go back in time and experience the midnight premiere of any horror movie, what would you choose?
I would probably have liked to see A Nightmare on Elm Street when it first premiered.
What's the spookiest place you've ever visited?
A walk-through haunted house during a Halloween several years ago in New York. It was my first haunted house and I had no idea what to expect. I was terrified. Still don't know if I like haunted houses.
