Interview with horror content creator, Ghosdee

Can you tell us about yourself and your horror content?

Hey, guys It’s Ghosdee! 👻 I’m a lifelong horror fanatic and YouTuber. My channel is a place of passionate videos about all things horror. Film analysis? I have that. Need Recommendations? That Too!

What was the first thing you encountered that made you fall in love with horror?

That’s a hard question to answer. My enjoyment for horror started at around age 3 when I watched Cujo on tape! My grandparents thought it’d be a great follow up to Old Yeller. By age 7 I’d watched Resident Evil with my mom and figured I just really dug Zombie movies, but then I watched Saw and that was basically the icing on the cake.

What does the horror community mean to you?

The horror community means a place of acceptance. Of all of the communities I’m a part of, this community is the one I feel the most accepted and supported by. As someone who is often on the outside, it’s special to have a place in this community.

As a YouTube content creator, what have you learned about yourself through your journey of creating videos?

I’ve learned a lot about the kind of content creator I am. My best content is not forced, and usually involves topics I’m immensely passionate about! I also learned that I struggle with feeling confident when speaking even in my bedroom alone.

If you could collaborate with any horror content creator, who would you choose and why?

There are many folks I would love to collaborate with, but the first that comes to mind is Chauncey K. Robinson @ MsChaunceyKR. She was someone that inspired me when I was first starting out my channel. I saw her on an episode of Deadmeat and went on to check out her videos. Her channel made me feel like there was a space for people like me in this community.

Who have been some of the biggest influences on your content and love of horror?

As mentioned, Chauncey. Aside from Chauncey, the women of the Everything Trying To Kill You horror podcast, and Tananarive Due are some of my biggest influences. I have to give special props Tananarive Due because watching Horror Noire: Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror that gave me the idea to start my own channel!

Are you currently working on any new projects? What can we expect to see from you in 2022?

In 2022 I want to spend more time collaborating with others on my channel. I have an upcoming collaboration with some great black women in the horror community. Eventually, I hope to expand Ghosdee to Twitch streaming horror video games.
