[WiHM] Interview with Horror Content Creator, Selina

Tell us a little bit about yourself! What is your role in the horror community?

My name is Selina. I lived in Virginia I'm a horror/thriller/mystery YouTuber and content creator. I do movie and tv series reviews. I also do new movie releases that will be coming out every month.


What was the first thing you encountered that made you fall in love with horror? 

When my mom let me watch the 1981 Evil Dead movie it was the only horror movie on VHS that I ever owned. I watch that movie so many times I know every line and scene. It's my all time favorite movie. 



What does the horror community mean to you? 
The horror community means a lot to me. Being able to connect with these amazing people and have someone else to talk to about horror is like an escape for me. I finally found a community  that I belong to and enjoy. 


Who are your favorite women in horror?
Karyn Kusama and Mary Lambert have their own unique style of directing amazing movies. Ashley is an amazing podcaster, she hosted Rise from the Dead Podcast I love how she finds and reviews great hidden gem movies.


If you could invite one woman from horror to dinner who would you invite and why?
Regina Hall I love her work and how she is versatile in different movies. I would love to pick her brain. 


Women in horror have been making progress, but it’s clear that a lot of work is still needed to ensure that representation is correct and widespread . What is the importance of Women in Horror Month?
The importance of Women In Horror needs to be more recognized everywhere, men are not the only ones that loves horror there are a lot of us that are educated and have a passion for the horror genre. It should never be one-sided. That's why it is so important to support other women in horror.


In honour of celebrating Women in Horror, who do you believe readers should keep an eye on in terms of women in horror?
Chauncey K Robinson she is an amazing YouTuber that does horror movie reviews breakdowns. The Lady Shasha is also a great YouTuber that has amazing content and extensive knowledge on horror movies. 


What do you have coming in 2022 that you can talk to us about? 
I will bring back Anthology Archives on my YouTube channel. I choose movies that have already come out and do a movie breakdown including behind the scenes, music composers and characters.
