Steven Kostanski to Reimagine Roger Corman's Deathstalker Series
Exciting news as Daniel Bernhardt (John Wick and Nobody) is set to take the lead in the upcoming reimagining of the cult classic, Deathstalker. The script, written by Steven Kostanski (The Void and PG: Psycho Goreman) promises a fresh take on the notorious tale.
Bernhardt is cast to take on the role as Deathstalker, a barbarian plagued by a magic talisman that forces him to confront a ruthless sorcerer and formidable assassins. The filming of Deathstalker is scheduled to start by late April 2024.
The original films by Roger Corman were inspired by the successful film Conan the Barbarian, drawing on inspiration of fantasy elements. Kotanski’s reimagining will delve deeper into the fantasy aspects of the series which is set to showcase monstrous creatures that will be brought to live through creature suits, prosthetic FX makeup and stop-motion animation (Action Parts).
Kostanski expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "The Deathstalker universe offers endless creative possibilities. Its lore allows for boundless imagination in creating challenges for Deathstalker."
A Kickstarter for the project launched on March 1st which aims to crowdfund support for Action Parts involvement in the film. Backers can back the project and secure items such as collectibles, artwork and merchandise. Visit the campaign here.
